Hello! My name is Sean Butler. I’m a Graduate Assistant Director for Intramural Sports at Ohio University. I am currently serving as the ORSA Student Representative. I am in my fifth year working in Intramural Sports after working four years at Elon University in North Carolina.
As your representative I am here to be a sounding board for any ideas or issues that you may come across. I plan on leading by serving and being visible and involved in as many state, regional, and nationwide conferences, tournaments, and events as I can be. With ORSA in an exciting new phase of development, under our new President, students can expect to see new benefits for them including a new tier structure for scholarships. With this new scholarship structure it is my hope to also introduce student grants. These grants would serve to help further our education in the field through certifications. Working as a campus official you could get help to pay for a state officiating license. If you are a Fitness Attendant this grant could help fund your personal trainer certification. These are just two examples of the countless ways to expand your knowledge regardless of which area of Campus or Collegiate Recreation you work.
I look forward to working with the Host Committee for this year’s ORSA at Wright State University. The committee is very excited for the 37th year of ORSA and we have a lot of exciting things planned for the Conference this year. I can’t wait to work as your ORSA Student Representative this year and hope to make your student experience in recreation a positive one.
